FAQ’s

What are the use of metformin?

Metformin is a medicine belonging to alpha-glucosidase inhibitors and used to control blood glucose levels and sometimes used in females for polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Which class does metformin belong to?

Metformin belongs to the class of biguanides used to treat diabetes and control blood sugar levels.

What is the mechanism of action of metformin?

Metformin lowers blood sugar mainly by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in muscles and fat, helping the body use sugar more effectively. It does this by activating the cell’s energy sensor AMPK, which shifts the body into a “use fuel wisely” mode without causing low sugar.

Can metformin cause weight gain?

Metformin is not usually linked to weight gain; in fact, it often helps with modest weight loss or weight stability by improving insulin sensitivity. Rarely, some people may notice weight gain due to factors like fluid retention, increased appetite, or lifestyle influences.

What are the side effects of Pioglitazone tablet?

Common side effects of pioglitazone may include weight gain, swelling in feet or ankles, headache, body pain, weakness, and mild stomach upset. In some people, it may also cause fluid retention, so it should be used carefully in patients with heart problems.

What are the uses of Pioglitazone?

Pioglitazone tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps the body use insulin better, which lowers high blood sugar levels. It is usually used along with diet, exercise, and sometimes other diabetes medicines for better sugar control.

How does Gliclazide work?

Gliclazide works by helping the pancreas release more insulin. Insulin is the hormone that helps move sugar from the blood into the body’s cells. This helps lower blood sugar levels and improves diabetes control.

What are the uses of Gliclazide tablets?

Gliclazide tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps lower high blood sugar levels in adults when diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes alone are not enough. It also helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as nerve, kidney, and eye problems.
